Botswana - Horse Riding Safari

“The question is..... Do you want to ride on the moon or in the deep waters of the delta? ”

Areas of Botswana to ride in:

• the Okavango Delta

• the Kalahari Desert

• Thamalakane River

For the seven night Okavango Delta Ride or five night Kalahari Ride riders must be of an intermediate-to-experienced level. With long days on horseback (4-7 hours daily) one needs to feel confident in keeping up with the group, capable of riding at all paces, rising to the trot, and controlling your horse at the canter.

The Thamalakane River Rides, 3 night Kalahari Ride are offered for inexperienced riders.

Riding experience level categories:

• Experienced: confident at all paces on almost any horse; competes or in regular training lessons

• Intermediate: has ridden for several years; able to control fit horses at all paces.

• Competent: able to control a quiet horse at all paces and feels confident on such a horse; balanced in the saddle and able to rise/post to the trot.

Riders need to be over 12 years old and riding fit.
