    With 25 horses in camp, all schooled and knowledgeable about the wildlife they have to encounter daily, this trip is geared towards getting closer to nature on horseback.

    The minimum riding level must be of an intermediate standard (comfortable at all paces) with the ability to post to the trot for stretches of ten minutes at a time and be able to gallop out of trouble.

    We are unable to accept beginner riders but have other exciting activities and /or can follow in the vehicle.

    For the seven night Okavango Delta Ride or five night Kalahari Ride riders must be of an intermediate-to-experienced level. With long days on horseback (4-7 hours daily) one needs to feel confident in keeping up with the group, capable of riding at all paces, rising to the trot, and controlling your horse at the canter.

    The Thamalakane River Rides, 3 night Kalahari Ride are offered for inexperienced riders.

    Riding experience level categories:

    Experienced: confident at all paces on almost any horse; competes or in regular training lessons

    Intermediate: has ridden for several years; able to control fit horses at all paces.

    Competent: able to control a quiet horse at all paces and feels confident on such a horse; balanced in the saddle and able to rise/post to the trot.

    Riders need to be over 12 years old and riding fit.
